Community Guidelines

Last updated: May 15, 2026

The LE Portal is a space for Leadership Eastside alumni, members, staff, and partners to connect, learn, and lead together. These guidelines are short on purpose — they're the values we already practice when we're in the room with each other, applied to a digital space.

Follow the Leadership Eastside Code of Collaboration Commitments. As a participant, as I collaborate in community-related matters:

  • I will authentically represent myself, my needs and my perspectives.
  • I will respectfully seek to understand and learn from perspectives other than my own.
  • I will work to strengthen relationships of trust, engaging in negotiation and disagreements in good faith and positive intent.
  • I will prioritize the best interests of our community, to the best of my ability.
  • I will be open to feedback about these commitments from others who have adopted this Code.
  • I affirm Leadership Eastside’s Mission, Vision and Values as aspirations for our community.

Be welcoming

Greet new members, use people's names and pronouns, and assume good intent and take responsibility for impact. LE crosses sectors, generations, political views, and life experience. That breadth is the point.

Be respectful

  • Disagree with ideas, not people. No personal attacks, slurs, or harassment.
  • No content that demeans others based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or national origin.
  • Keep heated debates in a respectful register. If a thread is going sideways, practice lowering the heat, approaching with curiosity and holidng one another accountable to the Code of Collaboration. Hate and abuse will not be tolerated and those who do not follow guidelines will be removed..

Be authentic

Use your real name and a recognizable photo. The portal is built on relationships — trust requires knowing who you're talking to. One account per person.

Share with care

  • Treat what members share here as private to the LE community unless they say otherwise. Don't screenshot or forward without permission.
  • Learnings go out into the community, details stay here.
  • Don't post other people's contact info, private messages, or personal details without their okay.
  • Cite sources when you share news or research, and flag clearly when something is your opinion vs. fact.

Keep it on-purpose

  • Channels have topics — post in the one that fits, or start a DM.
  • Promoting your work, events, or services is welcome in moderation. No spam, mass DMs, or unsolicited sales pitches.

Keep it lawful and safe

No illegal content, threats of violence, sexual content, or material that infringes someone else's copyright. If you see something that crosses a line — especially anything threatening someone's safety — report it right away.

When something goes wrong

If a post or message violates these guidelines, or if someone is making the space feel unsafe, email portal@leadershipeastside.com or message an LE staff member directly. Reports are handled confidentially.

Depending on the situation, LE may edit or remove content, ask a member to step back from a conversation, restrict portal access temporarily, or — for serious or repeated violations — remove a member's account.

A note from LE

We'd rather have a conversation than a rulebook. If anything here is unclear or feels off to you, tell us — these guidelines will grow with the community.
